The Maryland State HQL is a necessary license for acquiring and carrying a personal weapon.

The Basic Handgun Course objectives are:

  • Self-Defense Firearms Basics
  • Universal Safety Rules
  • Clearing Firearms
  • Selecting Handguns (Pros & Cons)
  • Ammunition
  • Clearing Malfunctions
  • Other Use of Force Options

Prior to the live fire, all live-fire drills and range competencies are undertaken on a virtual range with the SIRT training pistol. A Smith & Wesson 9mm caliber pistol is used for the live-fire portion of the course.

This training class includes a pistol, ammo, protective gear, and targets.

This class follows the Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals textbook, which is jam-packed with comprehensive illustrations and detailed coverage of everything you’ll learn!
